Far From the Madding Crowd

The movie, Far From the Maddening Crowd, based on the Thomas Hardy novel of the same name (which I have never read, by the way), was visually stunning. I love the history and the landscapes and the costumes. Nothing makes me happier than stepping back in time. Notice I didn't say simpler time. Even a hundred + years ago things were tough, and relationships complicated.

Carey Mulligan was darling as Bathsheba Everdene, headstrong lady of the manor who doesn't just get caught up in a love triangle, no, try a love square. *spoiler* In the end she makes the right choice, the only logical choice, in my opinion.
